{"id":3284,"date":"2020-04-16T14:20:38","date_gmt":"2020-04-16T12:20:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/willybrandtcenter.org\/?p=3284"},"modified":"2020-04-16T14:21:12","modified_gmt":"2020-04-16T12:21:12","slug":"tlv-wind-quintett-alon-goldstein","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/willybrandtcenter.org\/en\/de\/tlv-wind-quintett-alon-goldstein\/","title":{"rendered":"Concert with the Tel Aviv Quintet and Pianist Alon Goldstein"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The WBC hosted the Tel Aviv Quintet and Pianist Alon Goldstein at the Austrian Hospice in the old city of Jerusalem<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Thursday,\u00a0February 13th 2020, the Willy Brandt Center Jerusalem hosted in cooperation with the Austrian Hospice a performance by the celebrated Tel Aviv Wind Quintet, together with world renowned pianist Alon Goldstein from New York.<\/p>\n<p>The concert took place at the\u00a0heart of\u00a0Jerusalem&#8217;s Old City, in the Austrian Hospice\u2019s Imperial Salon, which was filled up to its last seat. The program featured pieces by Ludwig van Beethoven, marking the 250th anniversary of his birthday, as well as works by\u00a0Barber,\u00a0Bernstein and Fran\u00e7aix. A theatrical performance of Luciano Berio&#8217;s &#8222;Opus Number Zoo&#8220; was also included, and the socio-critical\u00a0poems by\u00a0Rhoda Levine, upon which this contemporary composition is based, were performed in Hebrew.\u00a0As the audience in Jerusalem\u2019s Old City included Israelis and Arabs, as well as a number of international guests, we decided\u00a0to offer in addition a written English translation and an Arabic version that was created especially for the occasion by the Willy Brandt Center team member Rima Shahin, and was very much welcomed by our Arabic-speaking audience.<\/p>\n<p>Before each piece, one of the artists briefly explained the historical and musical background of the composition. Unfortunately, Oboe player Yigal Kaminka fell ill a few days prior to the concert, but was replaced on short notice by the wonderful principal oboist of the Israeli Philharmonic\u00a0Orchestra, Dudu Carmel, who joined the other members of The Tel Aviv Wind Quintet:\u00a0Roy Amotz (flute),\u00a0Danny Erdman (clarinet),\u00a0Itamar Leshem (horn) and\u00a0Nadav Cohen (bassoon).<\/p>\n<p>We are looking forward to continuing our collaboration with the Tel Aviv Wind Quintet, and to reach out together to our young audience and present another &#8222;out of the box&#8220; classical music program in the near future: a theatrical version of Prokofiev&#8217;s \u201cPeter and the Wolf\u201d, especially arranged and staged for the\u00a0members of the quintet.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The WBC hosted the Tel Aviv Quintet and Pianist Alon Goldstein at the Austrian Hospice in the old city of Jerusalem On Thursday,\u00a0February 13th 2020, the Willy Brandt Center Jerusalem hosted in cooperation with the Austrian Hospice a performance by the celebrated Tel Aviv Wind Quintet, together with world renowned pianist Alon Goldstein from New [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":3244,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[3,7],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v17.5 -
